This baby was my final "That's Not My Dog". The first time I painted her, I realized she was the wrong size, then I painted her again, thinking she looked just like her cute self. The owner came to pick her up and said "That's not my dog!". It really was. She went home, checked the photo she had e-mailed me. I could feel her face turning red. Anyway, this is "Roxy", and it is the right pet!
Commissioned for a Christmas gift to a sister. This was one of my favorites, one blue eye and one chocolate brown. I recently finished his brother, "Rags", who died recently to go right along next to him.
Little "Ozzie" was the friend and companion to a lovely lady named Pat. She adored him, but lost him and missed him. I was commissioned by one of my fellow studio painters to paint this for her special friend. When she gave it to her, she cried. That's when I know I've captured not only the look, but the soul of a pet.
The "Gang" includes the Grand Prize Winners and the Studio Dogs (Georgia Brown, Ella, Shea and Ruby)! I think I see "That's Not My Dog", too! This was a recent Show at It's All Good! in Lakewood, Dallas, Texas.
Recently, I was privileged to be a part of Rising Gallery's "Dog Days of Summer" show where two of my favorite friends were featured. Let me introduce Lola and Harley, the two most cuddly cats I know! Visit my website, www.suzymoritzfineart, for more of my favorites!
The story behind "that's not my dog" was pretty fun. I painted this precious pet from a photograph that her owner sent me. When she came to pick her up, she said, "that's not my dog". She never remembered sending me this particular photo. I came home, found it, sent it to her and her face was red. It all came out fantastic and everyone was happy!
Let me introduce "Noble". He has a very special place in my heart. He was my first painted pet and the logo of my close friend Carol Perry, owner and operator of Big Paw Designs, www.bigpawdesigns.com. Carol's jewelry designs for pets are outstanding!
This is "Beau" Graass. He is a special family member of Jim, Susan, James, Catherine, "JT", Ben and Beau's newest BFF, "Missy" or "Molly", who is an adorable addition to this wonderful group. My family got to spend Easter with them and it was a real treat! Thank you Graass Family!
I am a native Texan. My lifelong passion has been painting any and everything, whether its a 2 x 3 inch miniature or a 14 foot wall mural. Somehow my passion
comes through the eyes of my lively personal pet portraits. I constantly continue my artistic journey
through studies with Texas artists, Kathleen Dello Stritto,
Elizabeth Locke and Carol Marine. A lot of my painting
inspiration comes from spending summers perfecting the
the art of the dazzling effects of New Mexico’s light and
its corresponding shadows from the spectacular and
inspiring landscapes of Georgia O’Keeffe Country to the
magical town of Taos and its surrounding vistas and
magnificent sunsets. My work can be found in Dallas at
Random in Inwood Village, Dallas, Texas and Rising, A Gallery, Dallas, Texas.
